FasTrak Toll Tags

Drivers must have a FasTrak toll tag mounted to the vehicle's windshield to pay the lowest tolls at Bay Area bridges and express lanes.

FasTrak Flex

The FasTrak CAV toll tag works at all toll bridges and in all Bay Area express lanes.

The FasTrak CAV toll tag is required in all Bay Area Express Lanes to receive the toll discount when traveling as a single-occupant clean air vehicle. It has a three-position switch to signal whether you are traveling alone or as a carpool.

Paying Tolls without a FasTrak Toll Tag

  • Paying with License Plate Account: If you travel over Bay Area bridges regularly and do not want a toll tag, consider opening a License Plate Account. This type of account is now eligible to pay tolls at all bridge toll facilities. License Plate Accounts are not recommended for rental vehicle users. Learn more about opening a License Plate Account.

  • One-Time Payments: To use Bay Area bridges without a toll tag or License Plate Account, you may set up a short-term, one-time payment account that allows you to pay recent or future tolls online with a credit card, or with cash, check or money order at a FasTrak retail location. Learn more about setting up one-time payments.

Mounting a Toll Tag

You must mount your toll tag on the inside of your vehicle’s windshield. It is illegal to hold up a toll tag with your hand while driving through a tollbooth. To ensure proper toll tag performance, it must be installed properly using the following steps:

  1. Clean the mount area on your windshield with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and allow it to dry completely.
  2. Remove the plastic tape from the back of the Velcro® mounting strips.
  3. Position the toll tag horizontally on the windshield as illustrated.
  4. Press the toll tag firmly against glass.
  5. Easy account set-up and maintenance

Note: Specific vehicle models may require an external license plate-mounted toll tag. View the FAQ topic on toll transponders or call the Bay Area FasTrak Customer Service Center at 877-BAY-TOLL (877-229-8655) for more information.
