Are there any express lanes open now in the Bay Area?

Yes. There are express lanes throughout the Bay Area, and more are planned.

Express lanes are currently open on I-680 southbound over the Sunol Grade and on I-580 eastbound and westbound through Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore. These express lanes are operated by the Alameda County Transportation Commission (Alameda CTC).

In Santa Clara County, northbound and southbound express lanes on 101, eastbound and westbound express lanes on SR-237 and northbound and southbound express lanes on SR-85 are operated by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA).

Northbound and southbound express lanes on 101 between the I-380 interchange and the San Mateo County/Santa Clara County border are operated by the San Mateo County Express Lanes Joint Powers Authority (SMCEL JPA).

I-880 has northbound and southbound express lanes between Oakland and Milpitas. The I-680 Contra Costa express lanes run northbound and southbound between Walnut Creek and San Ramon. Both are operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC).
